Myrtus - Sant Armettu
Tcham Wine invites you to set sail for the Isle of Beauty. Head for the wild, sun-drenched hillsides overlooking the Gulf of Propriano to discover a bottle of elegance: the "Myrtus" red cuvée from the prestigious Domaine Sant Armettu. A masterpiece that elegantly captures all the strength and soul of Corsica.
The Estate’s History: The Legend and Passion for Native Grape Varieties
The history of Sant Armettu is inextricably linked to the Corsican land and a fascinating poetry. The estate owes its name to a hermit passionate about plants (“Saint Ermite”), who had the gift of healing souls and bodies using the wild flora of the surrounding maquis.
It was in 1964 that Paul Seroin, captivated by the mystical beauty and potential of this clay-granite terroir, decided to make it his home and plant his vineyards there. Today, Gilles Seroin and his children carry on this family adventure with an admirable vision. The estate has become a true benchmark, particularly thanks to meticulous work on the preservation and rehabilitation of endemic Corsican grape varieties. At Sant Armettu, respect for nature is reflected in artisanal viticulture where each plot expresses its uniqueness.
Tasting notes: A powerful, full-bodied, and deep red
The "Myrtus" red cuvée is a vibrant tribute to the island’s natural landscape. Made primarily from the noble Sciaccarellu grape, complemented by Minustellu and Élégante, it reveals a profile of great character:
- On the nose: The journey begins immediately with captivating aromas of ripe black fruits, sweet spices (black pepper, licorice), and that unique aromatic imprint of the maquis, dominated by notes of wild myrtle berries.
- On the palate: This is a powerful, full-bodied wine with superb structure. The bounty of the Corsican sun is expressed through a velvety texture and infinitely refined tannins, leading to a lingering, complex, and deeply warm finish.
Food Pairings by Tcham Wine
This wine of character and great gastronomic merit demands dishes that are its equal. It will magnificently accompany a fine cut of red meat (a matured rib of beef, a rack of lamb roasted with maquis herbs, or game). For a more casual moment at the bar in our shop, it will perfectly complement a platter of artisanal charcuterie with character.
